Description of Activities
Reduce energy usage in retail stores, increase the energy efficiency awareness of customers in order to promote the purchase and use of energy efficient household items, and educate Dallas Independent School District (DISD) students and their parents regarding energy efficiency.
Deliverables & Environmental Results
- Implementing environmental initiatives to facilitate greenhouse gas reductions in several areas, including energy efficiency, community design to encourage walking and mass transit, converting fleets to alternative fuels and using reflective surfacing and roofing materials
- Determine which sources from the cities greenhouse gas inventory will yield the greatest reductions at the lowest cost
- Develop recommendations for ways the City can expand the effort to find additional green house gas reductions in the private sector
- Implement select measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions such as the installation of energy efficiency enhancements and renewable energy equipment in government or government-affiliated facilities in the City of Dallas
- Identify and assess the implementation of applicable Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency (RE/EE) technologies (such as: retrofitting public buildings for enhanced energy efficiency, fuel cell at City’s Emergency Operations Center, enhanced methane capture and reuse at the Dallas Zoo, small-scale wind turbines and solar at City and DART facilities, applying solar hot water heater/ground source heat pumps in buildings)
- Quantify expected kwh, energy savings and air emissions reductions
