A New Partnership for Dallas

As a constantly growing area, a city the size of Dallas faces many environment-related challenges. In keeping with its ongoing commitment to improve the environmental quality of life of its residents and visitors, the City of Dallas has embarked on a new partnership with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (COG) and the U.S. EPA.

The Dallas Sustainable Skylines Initiative is a joint effort whose primary goal will be to adopt sustainable practices to help improve Dallas’ air quality. Often times, these same efforts can also have additional positive environmental impacts. Subsequently, water and land quality benefits are also to be expected.

The Dallas Air Pollution Control Program has been a vital part of the City’s services to its citizens since the 1960s.  This program was instrumental in developing many of the modern methods, procedures and techniques that have become standards used by sampling and analysis laboratories throughout the U.S. today.

The Dallas Office of Environmental Quality is committed to protecting and improving the environment by leading and guiding the City of Dallas in our efforts on environmental compliance, pollution prevention and continual improvement.

The City of Dallas’ Green Dallas initiative is aimed at environmental responsibility and encourages both public and private sector involvement. The City launched GreenDallas.net, a comprehensive site dedicated solely to environmental issues, as part of its commitment to environmental responsibility. This site is a tool for residents to find out more about how the City of Dallas is an environmental leader and they can do to ‘build a greener Dallas.’

The Dallas Urban Forestry Program provides safe, healthy, and productive forests for all the citizens of and visitors of Dallas.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by, and for local governments. Established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefits, and coordinating for sound regional development.

   

The Environmental Protection Agency provides information and resources related to environmental issues across the nation. The US EPA Region 6 covers the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and 65 Tribes.
